My Friday Finds this week was discovered while perusing Teaser Tuesday posts.  It isn’t YA but it sounds so awesome I couldn’t resist.  It is on my massive TBR pile, but might have bumped a few off the TBR soon pile.

Grave Witch (Alex Craft, #1) Grave Witch (Alex Craft#1) by Kalayna Price

Grave witch Alex Craft can speak to the dead, but that doesn’t mean she likes what they have to say.

As a private investigator and consultant for the police, Alex Craft has seen a lot of dark magic. But even though she’s on good terms with Death himself—who happens to look fantastic in a pair of jeans—nothing has prepared her for her latest case. Alex is investigating a high profile murder when she’s attacked by the ‘shade’ she’s raising, which should be impossible. To top off her day, someone makes a serious attempt on her life, but Death saves her. Guess he likes having her around…

To solve this case Alex will have to team up with tough homicide detective Falin Andrews. Falin seems to be hiding something—though it’s certainly not his dislike of Alex—but Alex knows she needs his help to navigate the tangled webs of mortal and paranormal politics, and to track down a killer wielding a magic so malevolent, it may cost Alex her life…and her soul. OMG I just came across this by accident today and when I checked on Amazon, it was FREE…I was so excited that I downloaded it immediately.  I can’t wait to get started.  This is the first installment of 4 that I know of.

A Demon Made Me Do It (Demonblood, #1) A Demon Made Me Do It (Demonblood #1) by Penelope King.

Some girls share clothes, a bathroom, or a bedroom. Seventeen-year-old Liora Greyson has to share, too. Only she shares her body–with a demon.

Liora just wants to survive her final year of high school unscathed, her dark secret intact. But the walls she’s carefully constructed to keep people away crack wide open once she meets the sexy and mysterious Kieron, and he lights her world on fire. She can’t let him know she transforms into a demon named “Lucky” at nightfall—a demon with an entirely separate personality who passes out Torment, Justice, and Revenge like Halloween candy.

Turns out Kieron is the one who should be afraid once Lucky discovers his true identity and motivations. Liora wants to love him, but Lucky thinks he’s public enemy number one. And having a demon with a vendetta show up during a romantic date puts a serious crimp in any relationship.

Fighting your demons is one thing. Having one that fights back, messes with your guy, and leaves you with nasty hangovers is quite another.

Being bad has never been so good…(Goodreads Excerpt)

I am so excited that I  bought this last week, I meant to put it up then, but never got around to it.  It is freaking awesome.  I was dying to read the final book in the series. I am almost finished and holy cow it is a fantastic end to the series.  I will post a review soon. 🙂

Sentinel (Covenant, #5) Sentinal (covenant #5) by Jennifer Armentrout.

It’s a beautiful day for a war.

As the mortal world slowly slips into chaos of the godly kind, Alexandria Andros must overcome a stunning defeat that has left her shaken and in doubt of their ability to end this war once and for all.

And with all the obstacles between Alex and her happily-ever-after with the swoonworthy Aiden St. Delphi, they must now trust a deadly foe as they travel deep into the Underworld to release one of the most dangerous gods of all time.

In the stunning, action-packed climax to the bestselling Covenant series, Alex must face a terrible choice: the destruction of everything and everyone she holds dear… or the end of herself. (Goodreads Excerpt)

Here is what others are saying about this book!

SORIN SUCIU, author of the contemporary fantasy, The Scriptlings:

“Amber’s writing is dark, marked by suffering and a deep understanding of what makes us tick, not to mention tock. Her devastating first-person narrative and present tense combo makes it hard not to be drawn into the story. While “When Stars Die” is categorized under Romance, there is so much more to it than that. Indeed, I would even argue that romance is not even the main dish, but rather the subtle spice that takes the whole plate up a notch.”

CL MANNARINO, avid reader of Young Adult Romance:

“This is a fascinating and thoughtfully plotted debut, and well-written in the technical sense. As my first Christian book, or any book with heavy overtones of spirituality or religiousness, When Stars Die has certainly been an entertaining read.”

Angelfire (Angelfire, #1) (Angelfire#1) by Allison Moulton

First there are nightmares.
Every night Ellie is haunted by terrifying dreams of monstrous creatures that are hunting her, killing her.

My Friday Finds this week was discovered while perusing through fellow blogger posts. It sounds interesting and I couldn’t resist.

Discovery (Book One of the Council Powers Trilogy) Discovery(Counsil Powers Trilogy #1) by Lisa White

Grace Mackay thought she was normal, a little shy maybe, but no less normal than any other struggling young waitress. But she did not know about the secretive Powers world. She did not know she was the last person on earth with the DNA needed for the Powers’ survival. And she certainly did not know her newest boyfriend, Gregory, was an Anti-Powers prince who intended to break her heart and her bones in no particular order.

But when she discovers that Ben, her best friend and unrequited former crush, is actually her secret Guardian with superhuman powers, Grace’s normal turns a little wacky. And when she learns that she has The Gift, the rare power to heal the injured and resurrect life with her touch, it is official – Grace is a weirdo even in the Powers world.

But what freaks Grace out more than all that is the fact she has feelings for Ben again – and he has feelings for her – which makes Grace’s new normal a lot more complicated. (Goodreads Excerpt)

Banish Banish by Nicola Marsh.

Alyssa has one week to destroy her enemy, save her spirit… and save her soul.

Alyssa revels in the anonymity of a big city and her new life. Her grades climb, she has a new best friend, and a new guy: the sexy geek Ronan — a saxophone player who prefers jazz to pop.

But her new found peace is soon shattered when she sees a dead body in one of Ronan’s music clips — and she’s the only one who can see it. Worse still, Alyssa recognizes the body that has been murdered a week forward!

Alyssa doesn’t believe in the supernatural…despite her family’s Wicca background. So how will she overcome evil when it’s closer than she thinks? (Goodreads excerpt)

How Zoe Made Her Dreams (Mostly) Come True How Zoe Made Her Dreams (mostly) Come True by Sarah Strohmeyer.

From Sarah Strohmeyer, author of Smart Girls Get What They Want, comes this romantic comedy about one girl’s summer job from hell. Think The Devil Wears Prada set in Disney World.

When cousins Zoe and Jess land summer internships at the Fairyland Kingdom theme park, they are sure they’ve hit the jackpot. With perks like hot Abercrombie-like Prince Charmings and a chance to win the coveted $25,000 Dream & Do grant, what more could a girl want?

Once Zoe arrives, however, she’s assigned to serve “The Queen”-Fairyland’s boss from hell. From spoon-feeding her evil lapdog caviar, to fetching midnight sleeping tonics, Zoe fears she might not have what it takes to survive the summer, much less win the money.

Soon backstabbing interns, a runaway Cinderella, and cutthroat competition make Zoe’s job more like a nightmare than a fairy tale. What will happen when Zoe is forced to choose between serving The Queen and saving the prince of her dreams? (Goodreads Excerpt)

The Phoenix Reich (Max Meyers Adventure Series, #1) The Phoenix Reich by Joshua Lisec

Find the killer, restore your father’s legacy, save the world…all before finals week.

Germany, 1945. Nazi leaders scramble to hide stolen wealth from Allied invaders. Among them are members of the German Christian Church, the spiritual arm of Hitler’s empire. When an American soldier stumbles upon the Church’s loot,  he learns of the master plan to resurrect the Nazi regime—when the time is right.

But the solider dies in action just days before war’s end. The secret, lost.

Until now.

Virginia, Present Day. A Senator’s home has been consumed by inferno. The nation mourns the loss of a beloved statesman until painful questions are asked. Was it arson? Or the instrument of suicide?

The late Senator’s son Max Meyers refuses to believe the FBI’s ruling. Joined by his astute professor Charles Kensington and renegade law enforcer James Russell, Max forsakes posh campus life to learn the truth. A forgotten letter sent by Max’s great-grandfather from the carnage of World War II provides a clue, lighting a trail of decades-old conspiracy across Europe.

A lost faction of Nazi religious leaders has risen from the ashes of a failed Reich, prepared to revive a government of tyrants built to last a thousand years. To keep the promise of justice made to his late father, Max must prevent the conspirators from unleashing vengeance on an unsuspecting continent.

Is modern Europe’s fate sealed?

The first installment of the Max Meyers Adventure series, THE PHOENIX REICH is a fast-paced thriller set against the backdrop of World War II mysteries and the reality of modern-day Nazi conspiracies. (Goodreads excerpt)

Bitter Greens Bitter Greens by Kate Forsyth

An utterly captivating reinvention of the Rapunzel fairytale weaved together with the scandalous life of one of the tale’s first tellers, Charlotte-Rose de la Force.

Charlotte-Rose de la Force has been banished from the court of Versailles by the Sun King, Louis XIV, after a series of scandalous love affairs. She is comforted by an old nun, Sœur Seraphina, who tells her the tale of a young girl who, a hundred years earlier, is sold by her parents for a handful of bitter greens…

Selena is the famous red-haired muse of the artist Tiziano, first painted by him in 1512 and still inspiring him at the time of his death, sixty-four years later. Called La Strega Bella, Selena is at the centre of Renaissance life in Venice, a world of beauty and danger, seduction and betrayal, love and superstition, retaining her youth and beauty by the blood of young red-haired girls.

After Margherita’s father steals a handful of parsley, wintercress and rapunzel from the walled garden of the courtesan Selena Leonelli, he is threatened with having both hands cut off unless he and his wife give away their little red-haired girl. And so, when she turns seven, Margherita is locked away in a tower, her hair woven together with the locks of all the girls before her, growing to womanhood under the shadow of La Strega Bella, and dreaming of being rescued…

Three women, three lives, three stories, braided together to create a compelling story of desire, obsession, black magic and the redemptive power of love. (Goodreads Excerpt)

My Friday finds this week is a non fiction book (shocker I know) even though it sounds like fiction by the title.  I am a huge fan of the author and finally picked up her book a couple days ago.  I am about 1/4 through and the advice is fantastic for writers/bloggers and anyone who wants to learn about social networking.  You can also check out her blog here http://warriorwriters.wordpress.com/

Rise of the Machines--Human Authors in a Digital World Rise of the Machines – Human Writers in a Digital world by Kristen Lamb.

Here we are—the future is now. The machines have taken over. Everything is computerized. People no longer talk, they text. What number do we have to press to get a flesh and blood HUMAN?

It’s easy to feel like we’re losing our humanity when surrounded by computers, cell phones, and text messaging, but I’m here to bring you the good news. The same machines that seem to be stealing our humanity also have the power to restore it. Yes, you read correctly. The more we embrace technology, the more distinctly human we can become.

The new author is a cyborg of sorts—part human, part machine. The machine part allows us to compose series of words, copy them, email them, and then send them across the globe with a push of a button. We can research faster and more accurately than ever before. We can communicate with people all over the planet real-time and virtually for free. The new power technology has given writers has made us, in effect, superhuman.

Branding has broken free of marketing’s shackles and merged with personal identity. If we want to thrive in our new environment, we need to adapt, to apply technology as an extension of our humanness.

This is not a book to teach you 1,000 ways to blast people with advertising. The WANA Way is different than anything you’ve likely encountered. It is constructed using the timelessness of art, blended with the strength of human relationships. Platforms are more than a zillion ways to try to part readers from money; they are living works of art and meshed with the soul of the writer-artist.

The machines are rising, but humans were here first. (Goodreads Excerpt)

I am very excited for this weeks find. I belong to a book club on goodreads that has a travelling book society. This book made it to my house yesterday and I can’t wait to read it. Each person has written comments and stuff in the margins and everyone put a postcard or picture or some trinket in the book. Once I am finished reading I will then send it on to the next person on the list 😦

Here is my book:

Everything Left Unsaid Everything Left Unsaid by Jessica Davidson.
