Storm Glass (Glass #1) By Maria Snyder. Published July 30, 2013by Harlequine Mira. CDN $3.99 Kindle version.
Award-winning author Maria V. Snyder brings readers into a world of molten magic, where storms can be captured within a glass orb and a magician’s powers can remain hidden…until challenged by enemy forces.
As a glassmaker and a magician-in-training, Opal Cowan understands trial by fire. Someone has sabotaged the Stormdancer clan’s glass orbs, killing their most powerful magicians. The Stormdancers—particularly the mysterious and mercurial Kade—require Opal’s unique talents to prevent it from happening again. But when the mission goes awry, Opal must tap into a new kind of magic. Yet the further she delves into the intrigue behind the glass and magic, the more distorted things appear. With lives hanging in the balance—including her own—Opal must control her powers…powers that could lead to disaster beyond anything she’s ever known. (Goodreads Excerpt)
Wow, what can I say? The last Maria Snyder book I read was The Poison Series, which was absolutely amazing. She has such a talent for creating new worlds that you just fall into and can’t get enough. I love anything magic and this book was amazing! I love Opal. She was so genuine and real. She makes mistakes, she isn’t a great magical talent but it doesn’t bring her down. She is definitely unique. And her penchant for getting into trouble is very entertaining indeed. Can we say drama magnet? Lol Oh and there is lots of romance to boot!
5 stars for me! Loving Maria Snyder again!

This was a huge hit with the kids! They loved it. I also added some sound effects with a prop I had last year. It was howling sounds coming from behind the Hellgate. (my word for this cool effect) I had a great time doing this and it was so easy. A shipping crate, some hands from the dollar store, a red light for effect and a couple chains and a crow for good measure!
