Apollyon by Jennifer L Armentrout

Apollyon (Covenant, #4) Apollyon (Covenant #4) by Jennifer L Armentrout.  Published April 4, 2013 by Spencer Hill Press.  CDN $6.09 Kindle Edition

Fate isn’t something to mess with… and now, neither is Alex.

Alex has always feared two things: losing herself in the Awakening and being placed on the Elixir. But love has always been stronger than Fate, and Aiden St. Delphi is willing to make war on the gods—and Alex herself—to bring her back.

The gods have killed thousands and could destroy entire cities in their quest to stop Seth from taking Alex’s power and becoming the all-powerful God Killer. But breaking Alex’s connection to Seth isn’t the only problem. There are a few pesky little loopholes in the whole “an Apollyon can’t be killed” theory, and the only person who might know how to stop the destruction has been dead for centuries.

Finding their way past the barriers that guard the Underworld, searching for one soul among countless millions, and then somehow returning will be hard enough. Alex might be able to keep Seth from becoming the God Killer… or she might become the God Killer herself. (Goodreads Excerpt)

Wow what an emotional and thoroughly enjoyable roller coaster ride of a story.  I loved every minute of this book.  The story keeps getting better and better.  This book truly is amazing.  There is nonstop action, romance, thrills and chills and everything in between.  There are some questions that we get answers to, and then there are more questions.  The worst is that I can’t wait to read the next book after the cliff hanger at the end.  I can’t wait until November.  Sniff L

There is no question that Alex is one bad ass female.  You can’t help but cheer for her and admire her spunk and tenacity; I mean seriously the girl takes on a God!  I won’t say what the outcome is but think about it people…he is a God!  She keeps fighting no matter what and never gives up.  I have to admire her.

And Aiden…sigh…what can I say, he truly is amazing.  In the beginning of the series I admit I had my doubts, but holy cow the man is everything, romantic, sweet, brave, stubborn (in a good way) and smoking hot!  Enough said.

Truly amazing book!  5 stars for sure.

Aiden St. Delphi will do anything to save Alex.
Even if it means doing the one thing he will never forgive himself for.
Even if it means making war against the gods. (Goodreads Excerpt)

This book takes up right after Deity and therefore you must read Deity first.  What I liked about this is that it is told from Aiden’s POV.  You really see the depth of his love for Alex in this novella.  Alex’s worst nightmare has come true and Aiden will do anything to help her.  I don’t want to ruin it for anyone but it is very emotional and heart wrenching…a true love can conquer all tale.

5 stars for me.

Deity (Covenant #3) by Jennifer Armentrout

Deity (Covenant, #3) Deity (Covenant #3) by Jennifer Armentrout.  Published November 6th 2012 by Spencer Hill Press.  CDN $6.00 Kindle Edition

“History is on repeat, and things didn’t go so well the last time. ”

Alexandria isn’t sure she’s going to make it to her eighteenth birthday–to her Awakening. A long-forgotten, fanatical order is out to kill her, and if the Council ever discovers what she did in the Catskills, she’s a goner… and so is Aiden.

If that’s not freaky enough, whenever Alex and Seth spend time “training”–which really is just Seth’s code word for some up-close and personal one-on-one time–she ends up with another mark of the Apollyon, which brings her one step closer to Awakening ahead of schedule. Awesome.

But as her birthday draws near, her entire world shatters with a startling revelation and she’s caught between love and Fate. One will do anything to protect her. One has been lying to her since the beginning. Once the gods have revealed themselves, unleashing their wrath, lives will be irrevocably changed… and destroyed.

Those left standing will discover if love is truly greater than Fate…(Goodreads Excerpt)

What can I say but holy smoke!  As soon as I finished reading this, I immediately downloaded the next book.  It was fantastic, nonstop, emotional, exciting, riveting and compelling.  I loved every minute of it.  It is rare that I read a book that I can’t put down, but this one did that.

I admit I was kind of torn between Seth and Aiden.  Seth is the typical bad boy with the sneaky soft heart that pulls you in but you know is going to break your heart.  Aiden is the kind of guy that every girl dreams of…sigh…I will leave it at that.

I have never been a fan of Greek mythology but Holy Cow I am a changed person.  I love everything about this book, the Gods the Demigods, the Pures and the Half Bloods and of course you throw in an Apollyon (or two!) and you have one wicked bad ass story.  I love how Jennifer makes all the characters real.  No one is all good or all bad but shades of grey.  The characterization is amazing in this story, not just for the main characters, but for all of the characters.

I am not going to say any more because I don’t want to spoil anything but OMG I couldn’t put this down!

5 stars for me!  I would give more but 5 is all I am allowed:(

My Teaser:

Taking in the destruction the gods were wreaking, I knew only one thing-and it hurt in a way that shouldn’t have, in a way I couldn’t really explain.  Seth had to die, but I had no idea how to do it…or if I really could, when it came down to it.

Pure – Jennifer Armentrout

Pure (Covenant, #2) Pure by Jennifer Armentrout.  Published April 3, 2012 by Spencer Hill Press.  CDN $9.48 Kindle edition.

There is need. And then there is Fate…

Being destined to become some kind of supernatural electrical outlet isn’t exactly awesome–especially when Alexandria’s “other half” is everywhere she goes. Seth’s in her training room, outside her classes, and keeps showing up in her bedroom–so not cool. Their connection does have some benefits, like staving off her nightmares of the tragic showdown with her mother, but it has no effect on what Alex feels for the forbidden, pure-blooded Aiden. Or what he will do–and sacrifice–for her.

When daimons infiltrate the Covenants and attack students, the gods send furies–lesser gods determined to eradicate any threat to the Covenants and to the gods, and that includes the Apollyon… and Alex. And if that and hordes of aether-sucking monsters didn’t blow bad enough, a mysterious threat seems willing to do anything to neutralize Seth, even if that means forcing Alex into servitude… or killing her.

When the gods are involved, some decisions can never, ever be undone. (Goodreads Excerpt)

What can I say but WOW and HOLY CRAP!  I loved this installment of the series.  I am not a fan of love triangles but I have to say this one really works.  On one hand you have Aiden, smoking hot, forbidden who is trying to do the right thing.  On the other is Seth, equally hot, but arrogant and smug who I believe is actually more underneath.  His friendship with Alex shows his vulnerable side.

This book is full of tension and intrigue.  You never know who is on which side, who is good or evil, friend or foe.  I love that you are kept guessing throughout the whole book.  The oracle makes me laugh as she gives clues that don’t make sense until after the fact.  Very frustrating…lol

I have to say Alex is one tough kickass fighting machine.  I love how strong she is internally.  So much happens to her (I won’t spoil it with details) that would leave most people curled up in a ball, but she manages (with help from friends like Aiden and Seth) to rise above and keep on fighting.  It seems so many people are out to see her fail but she keeps going.

And the ending…OMG!  that is all I have to say on that other than I can’t wait to read the next book!

5 stars for me!

Opal – Jennifer Armentrout

Opal by Jennifer L. Armentrout Opal by Jennifer Armentrout.  Published Dec 11, 2012 by Entangled Teen.   CDN $10.33 Kindle edition.

No one is like Daemon Black.

When he set out to prove his feelings for me, he wasn’t fooling around. Doubting him isn’t something I’ll do again, and now that we’ve made it through the rough patches, well… There’s a lot of spontaneous combustion going on.

But even he can’t protect his family from the danger of trying to free those they love.

After everything, I’m no longer the same Katy. I’m different… And I’m not sure what that will mean in the end. When each step we take in discovering the truth puts us in the path of the secret organization responsible for torturing and testing hybrids, the more I realize there is no end to what I’m capable of. The death of someone close still lingers, help comes from the most unlikely source, and friends will become the deadliest of enemies, but we won’t turn back. Even if the outcome will shatter our worlds forever.

Together we’re stronger… and they know it. (Goodreads excerpt)

First off…HOLY CRAP what an ending.  This is what I hate about reading a series.  I don’t want to spoil it so I will just say…wow that was quite a cliff hanger there!

I really enjoyed the book.  It didn’t disappoint.  Each book just adds more and more and never gets old or boring or repetitive.  I like how the relationship between Katy and Daemon is evolving and growing.  I love the kick ass powers that she has.  I mean who wouldn’t want to meet a drop dead gorgeous alien and then get powers to boot!

I think what I liked most about this book is that it keeps getting more evolved and more interesting.  The action in this one is phenomenal and I loved every edge of your seat moment.  I was worried that it would get boring and repetitive but I was pleasantly surprised and am looking forward to the next book.  I can’t wait to see what Jennifer has dreamed up next.

5 stars for me.
