Teaser Tuesday (Sept 24)

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

My Teaser:

I tried to stop her but was held back by Soeur Berthe’s brawny arms.  She did not release me, no matter how hard I kicked her with my heavy wooden clogs. ‘Salope,’ I cried, and, ‘Putain,’ and all the other curses and maledictions I could think of, but it did not good.

My quills and ink and parchment were gone, and with them any chance of writing my way out of this prison.

I haven’t actually started reading this book yet, but it sounds fantastic!  And yes I went over the two lines just a bit, but I had to…lol  Hope you enjoy my teaser.

PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT with either the link to your own Teaser Tuesdays post, or share your ‘teasers’ in a comment here (if you don’t have a blog). Thanks! :D

  1. Sounds awesome!! I haven’t heard of it before but will definitely check it out.

  2. Well, sometimes it takes more than two sentences to make the teaser powerful. 🙂 Is this a paranormal book?

    • It is a retelling of Rapunzel, interwoven with the story of Charlotte-Rose de Caumont de la Force, one of the tales first tellers. Charlotte Rose wrote “Persinette” in 1698 (this story turned into the Rapunzel we know). (This was on the inside cover)

  3. Great teaser, and I always go over the two-line limit in my teaser tuesdays. It’s so nice to read a great line with some context 🙂

  4. I love retellings and this sounds really interesting!
Thanks for sharing, here’s my teaser.

  5. I hope you get to read the book soon and post a review! Those are some awesome teasers! I’m glad you went over the two sentences to provide me a little context for the quotes because now I’m so intrigued! Here’s my Teaser Tuesday.

  9. A retelling of Rapunzel, you said? I love new takes on fairy tales, so this one might have to go on the TBR. And the cover is beautiful. Hope you enjoy!

I love comments so please feel free to leave one!
